A Home of Your Own (1965) is advertised as ‘The Funniest 43 Minute Feature Ever Made!’
Director Jay Lewis’s 1965 British satirical film A Home of Your Own is a resourceful silent comedy short feature from the Sixties featuring a host of popular British comics of the day getting into mildly amusing and inventive scrapes on a building site, where they are constructing a young couple’s dream home.
It stars Ronnie Barker, Richard Briers, Janet Brown, Peter Butterworth, Bernard Cribbins, Ronnie Stevens, and Bill Fraser.
Ronnie Barker stars as the ruinous cement mixer – the man not the machine!, – Richard Briers plays the Husband, Peter Butterworth plays the short-sighted carpenter, Ronnie Stevens is the architect, Bill Fraser is the Shop Steward union organiser, Bernard Cribbins plays the hapless stonemason, Norman Mitchell plays the Foreman, and Fred Emney plays the Mayor.
It is written by Jay Lewis and John Whyte, shot in black and white by Bob Kellett, and scored by Ron Goodwin
