Antony Carbone, Betsy Jones-Moreland and Robert Towne star in The Roger Corman Puerto Rico Trilogy: Creature from the Haunted Sea (1961), in which American crook Renzo Capetto (Carbone) decides to kill inept boat crew members and blame their deaths on a legendary sea creature, which turns out to be real.
Producer-director Corman’s monster movie takes the risky route of spoofing bad monster movies and ends up enjoyably bad. The screenplay is, as usual, by Charles B Griffith. Betsy Jones-Moreland plays Mary-Belle Monahan and Robert Towne plays Sparks Moran.
Corman filmed it in Puerto Rico together with The Last Woman on Earth (1960), with the same cast and crew, and released it several months after it.
When the monster attacks the ship at the climax, you can see the actor’s skin where his costume sleeves doesn’t reach the gloves!
