Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel play a father and son who contact each other across the ether and a time-span of 30 years with the help of a trick of the airwaves.
Dad tries to help his kid solve a murder, in director Gregory Hoblit’s unusual, atmospheric, quite involving 2000 time-travel sci-fi chiller.
The earnest, dour performances from Quaid and Caviezel are very effective, building plenty of tension and sincerity, though they don’t help towards an exciting movie.
Also in the cast are Shawn Doyle, Elizabeth Mitchell, Andre Braugher, Noah Emmerich, Melissa Enrico, Daniel Henson and Jordan Bridges.
It is written by Toby Emmerich, shot by Alat Kivilo, produced by Bill Carraro, Toby Emmerich and Gregory Hoblit, and scored by Michael Kamen, with special effects by Global Effects.
Gregory Hoblit is also the director of Primal Fear (1996), Fallen (1998), Hart’s War, Fracture (2007) and Untraceable (2008).
