Invasion of the Star Creatures * (1962, Robert Ball, Frankie Ray) – Classic Movie Review 3776

3

Robert Ball and Frankie Ray are putridly unfunny as Private Philbrick and Private Penn, US soldiers who investigate a mysterious crater in an atomic detonation area and uncover the titular lady alien Star Creatures (Dolores Reed and Gloria Victor), in this stupid, really rotten, tacky Sci-Fi spoof comedy, directed by actor Bruno VeSota in 1962 for American International Pictures.

1

The seven-foot alien vixens Dr Puna (Reed) and Professor Tanga (Victor) plan to conquer the world using an army of vegetable monsters!

2

Jonathan Haze writes the screenplay from his own story Monsters from Nicholson Mesa, in a jokey reference to American International Pictures co-founder James H Nicholson.

It runs 70 minutes (TV version), and was made by Alta Vista Productions, released by American International Pictures, written by Jonathan Haze, shot in black and white by Basil Bradbury, produced by Berj Hagopian and Samuel Z Arkoff, scored by Jack Cookerly and William Loose (as Elliott Fisher) and designed by Mike McCloskey.

Also in the cast is Trustin Howard (as Slick Slavin) and Mark FerrisBruno VeSota has a director cameo as a passing motorist.
