Out for Justice ** (1991, Steven Seagal, William Forsythe, Jerry Orbach) – Classic Movie Review 8857

Director John Flynn’s 1991 adventure Out for Justice stars action-man Steven Seagal in typical role as a cop, Brooklyn Detective Gino Felino, hell-bent on avenging his partner’s murder at the hands of a Mafia enforcer’s brutal gang.

The words ‘marauding, indiscriminate gratuitous revenge violence’ spring more readily to mind than ‘out for justice’ during the course of this efficient, busy and noisy comic-book martial-arts thriller. Seagal follows the vengeance personal vendetta trail effectively in the kind of basic crime movie Charles Bronson did a decade earlier.

Also in the cast are William Forsyth, Jerry Orbach, Jo Champa, Shareen Mitchell, Jay Acovone, Sal Richards, Gina Gershon, Nick Corello, Robert LaSardo, and Joe Spataro.

Out for Justice is directed by John Flynn, runs 91 minutes, is made by Arnold Kopelson Productions, Seagal/Nasso Productions and Warner Bros, is released by Warner Bros, is written by R Lance Hill (as David Lee Henry), shot in Technicolor by Ric Waite, produced by Steven Seagal and Arnold Kopelson, and scored by David Michael Frank.
