Paul Walker gets his toughest role as low-ranking crook Joey Gazelle, is entrusted by his crime boss to dispose of the gun that killed a dirty cop in a drug-op gone bad. Filmed largely in Prague, Czech Republic, but also on New Jersey locations, this 2006 movie is an outstanding action-driven crime thriller, though it did poorly at the box office (just $6million in the US and £500,000 in the UK).
But, in a weird twist of fate, the neighbour’s kid (Cameron Bright) has stolen the gun and used it to shoot his abusive father.
Joey then has to find the kid and the gun before police Detective Rydell (Chazz Palminteri) and the mob find them.
Writer-director Wayne Kramer keeps it commendably fast-moving, suspenseful, dynamic and visually stylish. It’s an exciting, thrilling ride, and Walker’s excellent in this hard man role.
