Director Chris Fisher’s unpopular and unsuccessful 2009 sequel to Donnie Darko (2001), S. Darko, centres unprofitably on Sam (Daveigh Chase), Donnie’s younger sister, and her best friend Corey (Briana Evigan), who get entangled in a dangerous glitch in the time-space continuum when they go on a country-cross road trip.
Writer Nathan Atkins’s weird and baffling screenplay simply uses Richard Kelly’s characters. Chase reappears from the original.
It could easily make a list of worst sequels to favourite films.
