Blind Terror [See No Evil] *** (1971, Mia Farrow, Dorothy Alison, Robin Bailey) – Classic Movie Review 11,206

Director Richard Fleischer’s suspenseful 1971 chiller Blind Terror [See No Evil] stars a young, vulnerable-looking Mia Farrow, who packs believability into her clichéd role as a blind girl being hunted by a rampaging maniac who has killed her family at her uncle’s house in the English countryside.

Brian Clemens’s flashy hokum script is turned into a gripping shocker thanks to the talented young Farrow’s star performance as Sarah, who was blinded in a horse-riding accident, and Fleischer’s taut direction. Elmer Bernstein’s music and the cast are further assets.

Also in the cast are Robin Bailey, Dorothy Alison, Diane Grayson, Norman Eshley, Brian Rawlinson, Lila Kaye, Michael Elphick, Barrie Houghton, Christopher Matthews, Max Faulkner, Scott Fredericks, Reg Harding, Donald Bisset and Paul Nicholas.

UK theatrical title: Blind Terror; US title: See No Evil.

The movies at the cinema, ‘Rapist Cult’ and ‘The Convent Murders’, are fictional. Blind Terror is advertised on a bus in Farrow’s 1972 film Follow Me [The Publc Eye].

Bernstein’s music replaced previous scores by Farrow’s husband André Previn and by David Whitaker.

Some scenes were filmed in Wokingham, Berkshire.
