Lawrence Kasdan, fresh from Body Heat and The Big Chill, co-writes, produces and directs the 1985 Silverado, a visually resplendent movie telling a well-plotted Western tale about four drifters – Kevin Kline as Paden, Scott Glenn as Emmett, Kevin Costner as Jake and Danny Glover as Mal – travelling to the town of Silverado and confronting some extremely bad bad guys.
It was nominated for two Oscars: Best Sound and Best Music, Original Score (Bruce Broughton).
Silverado is brought to life by a wonderful cast headed by Kevin Kline, Kevin Costner, Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, John Cleese, Rosanna Arquette, Brian Dennehy, Jeff Goldblum, Linda Hunt, Jeff Fahey and Joe Seneca.
Kasdan leaves no stone unturned in his efforts to keep us entertained, even throwing in John Cleese as a despotic lawman, Sheriff Langston.
Lawrence Kasdan writes the screenplay with his brother Mark Kasdan
Kasdan makes amends to Costner for cutting him out of the finished print of The Big Chill.
