Lock up your daughters! Here be a tale of outlaws in search of in-laws.
A group of poverty-stricken 18th-century Irish younger-son noblemen takes to kidnapping rich eligible young women in an attempt to secure wealthy wives. The younger sons of the nobility usually end up as priests or soldiers, so this club wants to marry into money to escape this fate. Matthew Rhys and Daniel Lapaine star as James Strang and Garrett , who are both younger sons and therefore unable to inherit titles or estates. They set their sights on the Kennedy sisters, Catherine (Alice Evans) and Anne (Sophia Myles)…
Director Stefan Schwartz’s old-style real-life 2002 period romp is highly enjoyable, and extremely zesty.
It’s jam packed with plenty of high spirits, lively performances and feisty moments. Edward Woodward, Liam Cunningham and Patrick Malahide also star. It is written by Richard Crawford and Bill Britten.
Daniel Lapaine was born in 1971 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He is an actor and director, also known for Muriel’s Wedding (1994), Brokedown Palace (1999) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012),
Stefan Schwartz is also known for Shooting Fish (1997) and The Best Man (2005)
