Director John Landis’s 1977 madcap comedy The Kentucky Fried Movie is a bawdy, sometimes crude, mostly funny, occasionally hilarious series of sketches from the Kentucky Fried Theater comics from Madison in Wisconson.
The Kentucky Fried Movie is a series of winning send-ups of TV commercials, Perry Mason mysteries, kung fu martial arts films (A Fistful of Yen) and porn movies (Catholic School Girls In Trouble). Donald Sutherland plays The Clumsy Waiter in the segment That’s Armageddon. Marilyn Joi plays Cleopatra Schwartz and Manny Perry plays Big Jim Slade.
Writers Jim Abrahams and the Zucker brothers David Zucker and Jerry Zucker went on to make Airplane! (1980).
John Landis went on to make The Blues Brothers (1980), An American Werewolf in London (1981), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) and Blues Brothers 2000 (1998).
Among those in the cast are Evan C Kim, Bong Soo Han, Bill Bixby, Marilyn Joi, Saul Kahan, Marcy Goldman, Joe Medalis, George Lazenby and Donald Sutherland.
