Wedding Crashers **** (2005, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken, Isla Fisher, Jane Seymour) – Classic Movie Review 5388

Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are at their best as womanising John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey, who sneak into weddings to find partners for short-term flings, but fall out when their carefree days change after John meets the lovely Claire Cleary (Rachel McAdams).

Director David Dobkin’s exuberant 2005 comedy with a touch of romance Wedding Crashers is consistently funny and often hilarious, thanks to the amusing writing by Steve Faber and Bob Fisher and the expert, appealing performances. Wilson and Vaughn are on fire as a great double act here. Christopher Walken enjoys himself as daddy, Treasury Secretary Cleary, relishing his role. McAdams is sweet and so is Isla Fisher as Gloria Cleary.

The naturally normally chaste Jane Seymour finally decided to strip on screen at the age of 54 when her character Kathleen Cleary rips off her bra for Owen Wilson’s John. ‘The breasts are all me,’ she insists.

Also in the cast are Ellen Albertini Dow, Keir O’Donnell, Bradley Cooper, Ron Canada, Henry Gibson, Dwight Yoakam, Rebecca De Mornay, David Conrad and Jennifer Alden, with Will Ferrell as Chazz Reinhold (uncredited).

Wedding Crashers is made by New Line Cinema, Tapestry Films and Avery Pix, is distributed by New Line Cinema (2005) (US) and Entertainment Film Distributors (2005) (UK) and runs 119 minutes or 128 minutes (unrated).

It was announced on 8 March 2019 that Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin is to helm Eurovision, a comedy starring Will Ferrell.
