Impressive if inexpressive tough guy Chuck Norris dashes, slashes and thrashes his way through a variety of hulking thugs in director Steve Carver’s lively, Eighties-style American kung-fu crime action thriller An Eye for an Eye (1981). It stars Chuck Norris, Christopher Lee, Richard Roundtree, Matt Clark, Mako [Mako Iwamatsu], Maggie Cooper, and Terry Kiser.
Chuck Norris is Sean Kane, an ex-cop trying to crack a drugs ring, abetted by a glamorous reporter (Maggie Cooper) and a philosophical martial arts master (Matt Clark). He ends up fighting smoothly sinister villain Morgan Canfield (Christopher Lee) and a huge battling bozo called The Professor (Toru Tanaka).
The screen explodes frequently with a mindless but eye-catching welter of stunts and comic-book violence. The performances are zingy, and Steve Carver’s direction is energetic and zesty.
The cast are Chuck Norris as Detective Sean Kane, Christopher Lee as Morgan Canfield, Richard Roundtree as Captain Stevens, Matt Clark as Tom McCoy, Mako [Mako Iwamatsu] as James Chan, Maggie Cooper as Heather Sullivan, Rosalind Chao as Linda Chan, Professor Toru Tanaka as The Professor, Stuart Pankin as Nicky LaBelle, Terry Kiser as Dave Pierce, Mel Novak as Tony Montoya, J E Freeman as Tow Truck Dude, and Rick Prieto.
