In 1988 Roger Vadim took the title of his Fifties Brigitte Bardot hit …And God Created Woman [Et Dieu… Créa La Femme] (1956) and filmed a new story with Rebecca De Mornay this time doing the stripping.
De Mornay stars in the romantic comedy drama And God Created Woman (1988) as Robin Shea, who weds Billy Moran (Vincent Spano) to avoid prison, then inexplicably neglects her handsome charming carpenter husband to have a rock career and dally with political candidate James Tiernan (Frank Langella).
Despite an attractive cast and a gleeful air of amateur enthusiasm, it is all rather feeble, unconvincing and risible really. It is made by Vestron Pictures and Crow Productions, released by Vestron Pictures, written by R J Stewart, shot by Stephen M Katz, produced by George P Braunstein and Ron Hamady, scored by Tom Chase and Steve Rucker, and designed by Victor Kempster.
It runs 100 minutes, with the cut version at 94 minutes.
Also in the cast are Donovan Leitch Jr, Judith Chapman, Jamie McEnnan, Benjamin Mouton, Dave Shelley and Einstein Brown.
Madonna and Lisa Bonet were sought to play Robin Shea.
