Footsteps in the Night ** (1957, Bill Elliott, Don Haggerty, Eleanore Tanin, Douglas Dick) – Classic Movie Review 9702

Bill Elliott and Don Haggerty star as LA police detectives Lt. Andy Doyle and Sgt. Mike Duncan, who investigate the death in a motel of Elliott’s neighbour buddy Fred Horner (Robert Shayne), apparently caused by a fellow gambler. Naturally, all is not as it seems.

Jean Yarbrough’s 1957 detective movie Footsteps in the Night is a mild but tolerable filler thriller, based on a story by Albert Band. It is commendably short (62 minutes) and fast moving, with good work from a cast of decent characters actors.

It is the fifth and last of the Ben Schwalb productions series of detective movies starring Bill Elliott as an LA sheriff’s department detective.
