Oscar-nominated as 2009 Best Animated Feature Film of the Year, this delightful Disney/Pixar animated comedy adventure stars the voice of John Travolta as Bolt, an American white shepherd dog.
Bolt is the ordinary, everyday canine star of a hit TV show about a super-dog who first discovers his powers aren’t actually real when he embarks on an epic cross-country trek to rejoin his young owner Penny (Miley Cyrus) from green-eyed criminal mastermind Dr Calico (Malcolm McDowell).
Then Bolt accidentally gets shipped from Hollywood to the mean streets of New York, where he faces his biggest challenge – the real world… Luckily, he has got the help of Mittens (Susie Essman) and Rhino the hamster (Mark Walton) to get him back to Hollywood.
Offbeat and funny – sometimes very offbeat and very funny – directors Byron Howard and Chris Williams’s 2008 film careers all over the place in its frenzied efforts to involve and entertain. Though it does not always seem as though it is going to, it succeeds big time, with as much action and as many cute characters and laughs as anyone could cram into 103 minutes.
And it is awesome in Disney digital 3D.
