Director Angela Pope’s 1994 cinema debut is a challenging drama, with Julia Ormond well cast as a young English dentist who starts a passionate, secret affair with a prisoner patient (Tim Roth) moving towards the end of his 10-year sentence.
Written by Frank Deasy, this is strong, convincing, erotically charged stuff, persuasively acted and made with some flair, intelligence and with an eye to visual quality.
Also in the cast are Siobhan Redmond, Keith Allen, Peter Capaldi, Colin Salmon, Richard Hawley, Annette Badland, Jeff Nutall, Kenneth Cope, Bill Moody, Nathan Dambuza, Christina Collingridge and Victoria Scarborough.
There is a strong sex scene, strong language and some violence.
It follows several distinguished TV movies from Angela Pope, including Sweet As You Are, Dream Baby and Children Crossing.
