Children of the Corn 666: Isaac’s Return * (1999, John Franklin, Stacy Keach, Nancy Allen, Natalie Ramsey) – Classic Movie Review 5853

John Franklin returns as Isaac from the original 1984 Children of the Corn for director Kari Skogland’s gory, tatty 1999 fifth sequel, in which, on a trip back to her hometown of Gatlin to find her birth mother, teenager Hannah Martin (Natalie Ramsey) picks up a dark stranger who kicks off a mysterious chain of events.

In Gatlin, she awakens the cult’s original evil leader Isaac from the coma he has been in for 19 years and now seeks revenge.

It is supposedly a hair-raising event as Isaac makes his terrifying return and the frightening Children of the Corn achieve their what was intended to be their ultimate destiny until more sequels followed.

It also stars Stacy Keach as Doc Michaels, Nancy Allen as Rachel and Paul Popowich as Gabriel, with Gary Bullock as Zachariah, Alix Koromzay as Cora and William Prael as Jake.

Also in the cast are John Patrick White, Sydney Bennett, and Nathan Bexton.

John Franklin also co-writes it with Tim Sulka. It is shot by Richard Clabaugh, produced by Bill Berry, Jeff Geoffray and Walter Josten, scored by Terry Huud and designed by Stuart Blatt.

Gabriel (Paul Popowich) and Matt (John Patrick White) share a kiss.

It has an R rating for horror violence and gore, and for some strong language.

Children of the Corn: Revelation (2001) and Children of the Corn: Genesis (2011) followed.

A TV film remake, also titled Children of the Corn, was released in 2009.
