Writer-director Nicole Conn’s 1992 drama stars Trisha Todd as promiscuous satirist writer Claire who shares a cabin with a sex behaviour author at the annual women’s writers’ retreat at a small northern American coastal spot. There are supposed to be there to work on their writing skills.
Claire’s bravado disturbs the author, still in shaky recuperation after a disastrous love affair.
Writer-director Conn courageously explores and debunks lesbian stereotypes to present a sensual, provocative and humorous drama of women loving women that by 1992 may well be the best lesbian film since Desert Hearts (1985).
Also in the cast are Faith McDevitt, Sheila Dickenson, Karen Trumbo, Craig Damen, Leslie Hidula, Caren Graham, Patricia Blem, Melissa Mitchell, Gathering Marbet and Sherilyn Lawson.
It runs 108 minutes, is made by Demi-Monde, is released by Strand, is shot by Randolph Sellars, is produced by Pamela Kuri, and is scored by Debbie Clemmer and Michael Allen Harrison.
