Dakota Incident ** (1956, Linda Darnell, Dale Robertson, John Lund, Ward Bond, Regis Toomey, Skip Homeier) – Classic Movie Review 13,132

Dakota Incident (1956)

Republic Pictures’ Western film Dakota Incident is shot in attractively weird Trucolor, and stars the good old cast of Linda Darnell, Dale Robertson, John Lund, and Ward Bond.

Director Lewis R Foster’s 1956 Republic Pictures American Trucolor Western film Dakota Incident is written by Frederick Louis Fox, and stars the good old cast of Linda Darnell, Dale Robertson, John Lund, Ward Bond, Regis Toomey, and Skip Homeier.

Floosie Linda Darnell, thief Dale Robertson, politician Ward Bond, minstrel Regis Toomey, effete prospector Whit Bissell and bank teller John Lund ward off Indian attacks on their stagecoach, in this standard low-budget Western.

Foolhardy of them to resurrect so many Western clichés without any new take on the old situations, but it is adequately acted by excellent character actors determined to make the most of their stereotypes, tolerably made by Lewis R Foster and very crisply shot by Ernest Haller in that weird Trucolor.

It is painless old-style Western entertainment and all over in a trice (well, 89 minutes).

It is made and released by Republic Pictures.

The cast are Linda Darnell as Amy Clarke, Dale Robertson as John Banner, John Lund as John Carter, Ward Bond as Senator Blakely, Regis Toomey as Minstrel, Skip Homeier as Frank Banner, Irving Bacon as Tully Morgan, John Doucette as Rick Largo, Whit Bissell as Mark Chester, William Fawcett as Matthew Barnes, Malcolm Atterbury as Bartender / Desk Clerk, Diane Dubois as Giselle, Charles Horvath as Cheyenne Leader, and Diane Du Bois.
