In the story and screenplay by Robert Boris, researchers in the Antarctic unearth a bizarre creature in the frozen wastes and take it back to America only to discover that it has a taste for blood.
Producer-director John Carl Buechler’s 2002 frightfest Deep Freeze is a silly, gory and unconvincing horror movie, with Götz Otto, David Millbern, Alexandra Kamp, Karen Nieci, Howard Holcomb, Rebekah Ryan, Robert Axelrod, Billy Maddox, Brad Sergi and Allen Lee Haff.
RIP legendary horror director and SFX artist John Carl Buechler, who died at 66 on 18 March 2019. His Hollywood horror makeup and special effects made movies like Hatchet, Deep Freeze, Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988), and the Michael Moriarty-starring Troll into famed frightfests. Roger Corman called him ‘the best in the business’ when he ran the make-up effects department at New World Pictures.
