Director Robert Parrish’s 1968 British comedy crime movie Duffy is a Swinging Sixties trendy caper thriller about half-brothers James Fox (as young playboy Stefane) and John Alderton (as Antony) planning to rob banker James Mason (their dad, J C Calvert) of the millions he is moving to Marseilles. They get Fox’s gal Susannah York (as Segolene) and hippy criminal James Coburn (as Duffy) to help.
The desperate-to-swing acting and direction sink a promising yarn, but Otto Heller’s attractive travelogue photography and the appealing young Sixties faces easily distract the eye.
Also in the cast are Guy Deghy, Tutte Lemkow, Carl Duering, Marne Maitland, André Marianne, Barry Shawzin, Julie Mendez and Steve Plytas.
The screenplay is by Donald Cammell and Harry Joe Brown Jr.
