Director Henry Koster’s daft but harmless 1951 20th Century Fox black and white American comedy film Elopement stars Clifton Webb, Anne Francis, Charles Bickford, and William Lundigan.
Clifton Webb is the main lure for this fairly amusing, if silly fluff about a designer (Webb) whose daughter (Francis) elopes with her young college teacher (Lundigan). Both sets of furious parents join the chase.
The limp script by Bess Taffel gives the actors an uphill struggle, and the film is pretty empty-headed and rather low on laughter and appeal, apart from the ever-reliable Webb.
Also in the cast are Margalo Gillmore, Evelyn Varden, Reginald Gardner, Tommy Rettig, J Farrell MacDonald, Julia Dean, Howard Price, and William Bouchey.
The cast are Clifton Webb as Howard Osborne, Anne Francis as Jacqueline ‘Jake’ Osborne, Charles Bickford as Tom Reagan, William Lundigan as Matt Reagan, Reginald Gardiner as Roger Evans, Evelyn Varden as Millie Reagan, Margalo Gillmore as Claire Osborne, Tommy Rettig as Daniel Reagan, J Farrell MacDonald, Julia Dean, Howard Price, and William Bouchey.
