Full Moon High *** (1981, Adam Arkin, Roz Kelly, Ed McMahon) – Classic Movie Review 9469

Writer-producer-director Larry Cohen’s goofy, lively and engaging 1981 horror spoof Full Moon High has a similar plot to the later Teen Wolf (1985) in its story about a school kid (Adam Arkin) who turns into a werewolf when he goes to Transylvania with his dad (Ed McMahon).

A virtually unbroken series of daft funny visual jokes and verbal gags is punched out by a welcome cast and it is all well staged by director Cohen.

Teen Wolf was less amusing but more popular.

Also in the cast are Elizabeth Hartman, Kenneth Mars, Roz Kelly, Bill Kirchenbauer, Joanne Nail, Alan Arkin, Louis Nye, Demond Wilson, Tom Aldredge, Jim J Bullock, James Dixon, Tom Clancy and Pat Morita.

Adam Arkin, born on 19 August 1956, is the son of Alan Arkin, who plays Dr Brand.
