Director Richard T Heffron’s 1976 welcome and successful sequel to Westworld (1973) sees the robots from Westworld replicate famous people to try to achieve control of the planet.
Peter Fonda and Blythe Danner star as reporters Chuck and Tracy who decide to do an undercover investigation of the futuristic virtual reality theme park Futureworld after they are tipped off by an ex employee who is then killed. Uncovering the secret, Chuck sets out to get the megalomaniac proprietor of Futureworld.
Yul Brynner reappears from the original as the Gunslinger, the production is sleeker this time, and the script by Mayo Simon and George Schenck is just as thoughtful and diverting as before.
Also in the cast are Arthur Hill, Jim Antonio, John P Ryan, Angela Greene, Stuart Margolin, Allen Ludden, Nancy Bell, Dana Lee and Burt Conroy.
It runs 106 minutes, is released by American International Pictures, is shot by Howard Schwartz and Gene Polito, is produced by Paul Lazarus III and James T Aubrey Jr, is scored by Fred Karlin and designed by Trevor Williams.
