Director John Carl Buechler’s 1990 film Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College stars Kevin McCarthy as Professor Ragnar, a college teacher who calls the nasty little monsters to campus to deal with unruly gangs in Prank Week when frats play tricks on each other.
Evan MacKenzie plays Skip Carter, leading his frat house of party animals, but he is having problems with his girlfriend who is also dating his arch rival Jeremy Heilman (John R Johnston). The Ghoulies are sent to kill Skip.
A sterling cast and a little effective dark humour just about save this gruesome black comedy horror second sequel, following Ghoulies (1984) and Ghoulies II (1987).
It is the film debut of Matthew Lillard, then Matthew Lynn, aged 20, playing Stork.
Also in the cast are Evan MacKenzie, Eva LaRue, Griffin O’Neal, Jason Scott Lee, Dan Shor, Patrick Labyorteaux, John R Johnston, Billy Morrissette, Hope Marie Carlton, Andrew Barach, Marcia Wallace, Kane Hodder (Man in Rolling Mop Bucket) and Stephen Lee.
It is followed by Ghoulies IV (1994).
