Ghoulies IV is more nasty-toned Ghoulie gruesome black comedy horror nonsense, but this time it is done with just an inkling of oomph and flair.
With Peter Liapis as Jonathan Graves, the link to the 1984 original will satisfy the fans of the series.
It was cert 15 but re-rated 12 on video. The 1994 UK video was cut by nine seconds by the BBFC. The cuts were restored on the 2004 Boulevard DVD.
Also in the cast are Stacie Randall, Barbara Alyn Woods, Raquel Krell, Bobby Di Cicco, Tony Cox as Ghoulie Dark, and Arturo Gil as Ghoulie Lite.
Mark Sevi’s screenplay was much re-written by actor Peter Liapis and director Jim Wynorski.
The Ghoulies are played by actors in costumes instead of the puppet props of the original Ghoulies to save costs.
It follows Ghoulies (1984), Ghoulies II (1987) and Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College (1990).
