Director Roland Joffé’s 1998 movie stars Dermot Mulroney as Jake, who is understandably very upset when he finds out that his sultry wife Sandra, Patricia Arquette, is carrying on a hot affair with his older brother Ben, Don Johnson.
The good cast helps to turn writer Ron Peer’s slick, taut, satisfyingly twisty little black-comedy erotic thriller into a neat success.
Despite a fine cast, including Ellen DeGeneres as Sgt. Rita Pompano, Mary-Louise Parker, Alex Rocco, André Gregory, John Neville, Ray McKinnon, Jonelle Kennedy, Nina Siemaszko, David Brisbin, Lisa Eichhorn, George Furth, Barry Newman, Michael Krawic and Max Perlich, it is Johnson, surprisingly, who gives the film’s standout performance.
