‘All The Terror Of A ‘Killer Hunt’… All The Fury Of The Old West… All The Cold-Steel Courage Of One-Man Law!’
Director Edward L Cahn’s low-budget 1961 black and white Western film Gun Street stars James Brown, Jean Willes, John Clarke and Warren J Kemmerling.
Local lawman Sheriff Chuck Morton (James Brown) chases avenging escaped gunman Frank Bogan (Warren J Kemmerling), an ex-buddy. Bogan has been sentenced to death but escapes from prison for revenge on those he blames for his capture: ex-wife Janice (Peggy Stewart), her new husband Dr Dean Knudtson (John Pickard) and Jeff Baxley (Herb Armstrong), whose court testimony helped to convict Bogan.
Director Edward L Cahn’s 1961 film Gun Street is a dull, often tedious Western, with rather laborious performances, quite insipid handling and an all-too-basic script (by Sam C Freedle).
It is made back to back with Cahn’s Gun Fight (1961), which also stars James Brown.
Also in the cast are Jean Willes as Joan Brady, John Clarke as Deputy Sheriff Sam Freed, John Pickard as Dr. Knudson, Med Flory as Willie Driscoll, Peggy Stewart as Mrs. Knudson, Sandra Stone as Pat Bogan, Warren J Kemmerling as Frank Bogan, Nesdon Booth as Mayor Phillips, Herb Armstrong as Jeff Baxley, and Renny McEvoy as Operator.
