Seymour Cassel stars as Jack McCallister, an ageing robber who’s wounded in a bungled payroll heist, but manages to steal and then stashes away half a million dollars in debut writer-director Whitney Ransick’s witty 1994 crime thriller.
Soon all the greedy low-lives in New York, including Cassel’s small-time crook sons George and Michael (Treat Williams and Paul Schulze), are after the money. The estranged brothers have to flee the cops and a local crime boss while they try to find the hidden loot.
Ransick’s oddball action caper for Sopranos/Reservoir Dogs mob thriller fans really does deliver the goods in terms of its quirky acting, salty dialogue and edgy handling.
Also co-starring Frank Vincent, Michael Rapaport, Michael Imperioli, John Ventimiglia, Anna Levine and Zoë Lund.
Ransick is also known for High Incident (1996) and The Huntress (2000). He directed 10 episodes of Smallville.
