Director Frank Perry’s 1987 fantasy comedy drama Hello Again stars Shelley Long as housewife Lucy Chadman, who chokes to death on a chicken roll, but, one year later, is resurrected by her hippy medium sister, Zelda (Judith Ivey).
This thinly scripted comedy (by screen-writer Susan Isaacs) is forced to fall back more on the stars’ undeniable charisma than on the laughs arising from the comic repercussions of its situation.
Alas it is just not quite enough to save it, but it does earn marks for trying.
Also in the cast are Corbin Bernsen, Gabriel Byrne, Sela Ward, Austin Pendleton, Carrie Nye, Robert Lewis, Madeleine Potter, Thor Fields, John Cunninghan, I M Hobson, Mary Fogarty and Tony Sirico.
