In director Rod Daniel’s perhaps unwanted 2002 third sequel, it is the turn of Michael ‘Mike’ Weinberg to play Kevin McCallister, who is staying Home Alone again. And once more of course robbers attack the house and he fights back.
Living with his separated mom (Clare Carey), Kevin is spending the Christmas holidays with his rich dad (Jason Beghe) and dad’s latest flame (Joanna Going), whose house is attacked by Home Alone original villain Marv (Third Rock from the Sun’s French Stewart) plus his new partner Vera (Missi Pyle).
Debra Frank and Steve L Hayes provide the screenplay using the characters created by John Hughes. How often can they recycle the same jokes? The performances are stalwart. Honourably, Stewart does a very good job in Daniel Stern’s old role and Beghe is fine as dad.
Also in the cast are Barbara Babcock, Gideon Jacobs, Sean Michael, Chelsea Russo and Lisa King.
This time, it is made for TV.
