‘His Government is Hunting Him Down.’…
Director Jonathan Heap’s 1997 Canadian film Hostile Intent stars Rob Lowe as brilliant renegade hacker Mike Cleary, a computer programmer who finds that he is in mortal peril when the CIA thinks the software he is developing will stop their surveillance operations.
Written by Manny Coto, this plausible, intelligent action thriller is tense and entertaining, and raises some intriguing and provocative issues. It is one of those films where you can argue about its politics afterwards, if you feel so inclined.
Also in the cast are Sofia Shinas, James Kidnie, John Savage, Saul Rubinek, and Rino Romano.
It is shot in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
