A marvellous cast is assembled for three sincere, affecting and compelling stories of abortion set in different periods – 1952, 1974 (both directed by Nancy Savoca) and 1996 (directed by Cher) – set in the same house, though with different occupants.
In the 1952 segment, the film’s producer Demi Moore plays nurse Claire Donnelly, abandoned after an unwanted pregnancy. It also stars Shirley Knight, Kathleen Keener, Jason London, C C H Pounder, Kevin Cooney, Sissy Spacek, and Cher.
It runs 95 minutes, is made by Moving Picture, is released by HBO, is written by Nancy Savoca, Susan Nanus and I Marlene King, is shot by Ellen Kuras, Bobby Boukowski and John Stanier, is produced by Demi Moore and Suzannna Todd, and is scored by Cliff Eidelman.
Also in the cast are Xander Berkeley, Janna Michaels, Ian Bohen, Zack Eginton, Joanna Gleason, Harris Yulin, Anne Heche, Jada Pinkett Smith, Eileen Brennan, Lindsay Crouse, Craig T Nelson, Diana Scarwid, Rita Wilson and Matthew Lillard.
It is R rated for realistic depiction of abortions, a graphic shooting and some strong language.
It is followed by If These Walls Could Talk 2 in 2000.
