‘THE LAST BRAWLING DAYS OF THE LAWLESS WEST in 3D.’
Director William Castle’s 1953 Western film Jesse James vs the Daltons is a none-too-thrilling but professional and just about tolerable 3D and Technicolor Western, in which the infamous Dalton Gang (James Griffith, William Phipps, John Cliff) join battle with someone alleging that he is the son of outlaw Jesse James. Joe Branch (Brett King) has contacted the Dalton Gang to learn the truth about his father.
Horror showman maestro Castle does his best to give the moderate script (by Robert E Kent and Samuel Newman) and modest cast a boost, with the help of the 3D and Technicolor.
It is produced by Sam Katzman Productions and distributed by Columbia Pictures, and is one of three films made by Castle in 3D in the classic 1950s 3D era.
The cast are Brett King as Joe Branch, Barbara Lawrence as Kate Manning, James Griffith as Bob Dalton, William Phipps [Bill Phipps] as Bill Dalton, John Cliff as Grat Dalton, Rory Mallinson as Bob Ford, William Tannen as Emmett Dalton, Richard Garland as Gilkie, Nelson Leigh as Father Kerrigan, Raymond Largay, Mel Welles, Dale van Sickel, Syd Saylor, Bud Osborne, Paul McGuire, Ray Kellogg, Roy Gordon, Charles Evans, and Stanley Blystone.
