Director Peter Duffell’s 1990 film King of the Wind is a first-class family adventure about a mute orphan boy called Agba (Navin Chowdhry) and his fine Arab steed, rescued in Paris by English gent Edward Coke (Frank Finlay) and taken home to his daughter Hannah (Jenny Agutter).
After incredible setbacks, they get to meet the King and Queen of England, King George II and Queen Caroline (Richard Harris and Glenda Jackson).
King of the Wind is a busy, exciting, colourful, almost Dickensian tale based on a true story, with an appealing lead performance, winning cameos from a star-studded cast and well-filmed sequences in exotic locations.
The screenplay by Phil Frey and Leslie Sayle is based on the novel by Marguerite Henry.
Also in the fine cast are Nigel Hawthorne, Ralph Bates, Neil Dickson, Barry Foster, Jill Gascoine, Joan Hickson, Anthony Quayle, Ian Richardson, Norman Rodway and Peter Vaughan.
