‘Let’s not go to work.’ Want to take a bite of this slice-of-life Glasgow-set comedy about the love lives of four mixed-up friends in dead-end jobs who hang out at an inner-city café?
James Lance, Luke de Woolfson, Kate Ashfield and Enzo Cilenti star as Vincent, Sean, Jody and Lenny.
The four slackers meet every night to discuss their dreams and hopes for the future. But, the question is, can any of them break free?
Director Saul Metzstein’s tasty 2001 film about sex and shelf-stacking is unusually well made for a small Brit movie, and it is nicely acted by an appealing, fresh young cast. The likeable if aimless script could do with an overhaul, but the film is welcome and well crafted. Brian Tufano’s cinematography is a class act.
Also in the cast are Heike Makatsch, Shauna Macdonald, Sienna Guillory, Laurie Ventry, Bobbie Finn, Claire Harman, Nigel Buckland and Lesley Harcourt.
Late Night Shopping is directed by Saul Metzstein, runs 91 minutes, is made by FilmFour, Glasgow Film Office, Ideal World Productions, National Lottery, Scottish Screen and Senator, is released by FilmFour, is written by Jack Lothian, is shot by Brian Tufano, is produced by Angus Lamont, and is scored by Alex Heffes.
