Co-writer/ director Albert Brooks’s 1985 comedy Lost in America stars Brooks as successful LA yuppie David Howard, who is passed over for promotion, so he convinces his wife Linda (Julie Hagerty) that they should quit their jobs and set off on the road to explore America ‘just like Easy Rider’ but in a Winnebago.
Brooks directs and co-writes (with Monica Johnson) this warm, funny yuppie satire impressively. His manic acting and comic timing are a treat to watch. And Hagerty is such an appealing comedienne that you wonder why she hasn’t become a star.
Also in the cast are Michael Greene, Garry Marshall, Maggie Roswell, Tom Tarpey, Sylvia Farrel, Raynold Gideon and Art Frankel.
