Director Hal Walker’s 1950 Paramount Pictures black and white comedy sequel My Friend Irma Goes West stars John Lund, Diana Lynn, Marie Wilson, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
Daft orange juice stand worker duo Steve and Seymour (Martin and Lewis) hop on a train to Hollywood in search of stardom in this moderately funny slapstick follow-up to the previous year’s hit My Friend Irma (1949), which ignores the events at the end of that movie.
Diana Lynn as Steve’s fiancée Jane Stacey, Marie Wilson as Jane’s dizzy, airheaded roommate Irma and John Lund as Irma’s con artist fiancé Al are also back to chase their chums along the tracks of success. A Hollywood producer signs Steve to a long-term movie contract but he turns out to be an escaped lunatic, and they all end up in Las Vegas, where Irma is kidnapped by gangsters of the notorious Corrigan Gang, led by ruthless killer Sharpie Corrigan, jokily played against type by lovable actor Lloyd Corrigan.
Cy Howard and Parke Levy’s slight but modestly amusing screenplay is based on Cy Howard’s popular radio show.
Also in the cast are Corinne Calvet, Lloyd Corrigan, Donald Porter, Harold Huber, Kenneth Tobey, Charles Evans, Joseph Vitale, Link Clayton, Charles Dayton, Jimmie Dundee, Al Ferguson, Mike Mahoney, James Flavin, Joe Gray, Joe Hecht, Paul Lees, Chief Yowlachie, Jasper Weldon, Napoleon Whiting, Maxie Throwe, and Julia Montoya.
Tamba the Chimp is played by Pierre.
