Director Francis Searle’s sturdy 1952 mystery movie quickie Never Look Back stars Rosamund John, Hugh Sinclair, Guy Middleton, Henry Edwards, Terence Longdon, John Warwick, Brenda de Banzie, and Arthur Howard. It is made by Hammer Films at the Mancunian Studios in Manchester, England.
Rosamund John stars as newly appointed King’s Counsel, defence lawyer Anne Maitland, who gives an alibi to her old flame Guy Ransome (Guy Middleton) after he is accused of murdering his new mistress.
With lawyer Nigel Stewart (Hugh Sinclair) also after Anne Maitland (Rosamund John), all the romantic shenanigans make it a bit soapy. But, when it sticks to the legal and mystery thriller elements, it grips. The acting is intense and entertaining from a good value cast.
