Director Kyle Cooper’s intriguingly themed teen drama stars Blake Shields as Maddox, a cranky American teenager who grows tired of the repressive attitudes in his suburban Chicago high school called New Port South.
So he resolves to con some of his fellow students into helping him in an open rebellion against the school administrators and teachers. Then the group of teenagers (Shields, Kevin Christy, Will Estes, Melissa George) proceed to rebel against the system with a propaganda blitz that results in a student body riot.
With a screenplay by James Hughes, this shaky, unpersuasive, sometimes downright annoying teen drama often loses its sense of hold on reality.
But the soundtrack and a good cast of actors help it out a lot, including Todd Field, Raymond J Barry, Nick Sandow, Lawrence MacGowan, Michael Shannon and Gabriel Mann. James Hughes produces with his father, John Hughes.
Rated PG 13 for thematic elements, violence and brief strong language.
