The pairing of John Travolta and Robin Williams gives some hope for director Walt Becker’s 2009 family comedy, but this dumb Walt Disney waste of time turns out to be another old dog from the duo’s erratic careers.
They strain our long-term liking for them playing – quite clumsily for such old pros – Manhattan buddies and public relations business partners saddled with baby-sitting seven-year-old twins for a fortnight while trying to land a big deal with Japan.
David Diamond and David Weissman’s staggeringly obvious, laugh-free script is much worse than you would actually think it could possibly be and the director (who also made Travolta’s Wild Hogs) understandably doesn’t seem to know what to do to raise even a smile with it.
It is not even inoffensive: expect the usual lazy poo, fart, gay and racist ‘jokes’. Painful.
Also in the cast are Seth Green, Kelly Preston, Lori Loughlin, Bernie Mac, Matt Dillon, Rita Wilson and Ann-Margret.
