Valerie Edmond stars as Sarah Hopson who swaps her meaningless New York lifestyle for the Scottish Borders to look for her childhood sweetheart Sam (Gerard Butler), who now runs a restaurant.
Sam’s life collapsed the day Sarah left but now she’s on his doorstep telling his wife Charlotte (Valerie Gogan) that she wants to spend time with him.
Director Vadim Jean’s life-affirming love story drama is tasty, warm and romantic, just like you would hope, and it is brightly filmed and freshly played by its young stars. Like the screenplay, the performers are likeable and appealing.
Suzie Halewood’s involving first screenplay is produced by Paul Brooks (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, 2002) and won the Audience Award at the Atlantic Film Festival. Her exciting debut feature as writer-director is Bigga Than Ben (2008) starring Ben Barnes, Andrey Chadov and Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
