Director Harald Zwart’s smart and clever 2001 comedy stars Matt Dillon, Paul Reiser and John Goodman as a trio of hapless men who all fall for a beautiful temptress called Jewel (Liv Tyler at her most seductive).
But it soon becomes clear that Jewel has an ulterior motive for encouraging them. She quickly drives McCool’s bartender Randy (Dillon) into committing crimes for her, while the cop on the case, Detective Dehling (Goodman), falls for her too. And Randy’s cousin Carl (Reiser) succumbs to the Jewel heat as well.
Written by Stan Seidel, this is a highly energetic, very amusing offbeat crime comedy, with expert performances by the four leads, plus producer Michael Douglas in a showy star cameo as a greasy hitman.
Also in the cast are Reba McEntire, Richard Jenkins, Andrew Dice Clay, Leo Rossi, Tim De Zarn, Andrea Bendewald, Ric Sarabia, Anthony Winsick, Eric Scaeffer, Donielle Artese, Mary Jo Smith, Sandy Martin and Rob Neukirch.
