Unfaithfully married LA ad director Max (Wesley Snipes) tries to sort out the mess of his life after he has a sexy one night stand with Karen (Nastassja Kinski) in director Mike Figgis’s well-acted and haunting 1997 romantic drama.
Snipes gives an excellent performance of rare sensitivity, but, even so, the movie is stolen from him by Robert Downey Jr, who touches the heart as Charlie, Max’s AIDS-suffering artist friend.
Ming-Na Wen plays Snipes’s wife Mimi and Kyle MacLachlan plays Downey’s brother Vernon, who marries Kinski.
Also in the cast are Marcus Paulk, Natalie Trott, John Calley, Glenn Plummer, Amanda Dononhoe, Zoë Nathenson, Thomas Haden Church, Vincent Ward, John Ratzenberger and Thomas Kopache.
