Director Betty Thomas’s 1992 film Only You stars Andrew McCarthy as dollhouse furniture designer Clifford Godfrey, who is rejected by his perfect lover on the eve of their vacation. But the trip is on again when he bumps into lovely Amanda Hughes (Kelly Preston), who has also recently been dumped. Then, on their tropical island, free-spirited travel photographer Clare Enfield (Helen Hunt) makes him her reluctant model.
This nice, amiable romantic comedy is pleasantly relaxing and it has three good, engaging stars, whose genial performances are pleasing. But it does not push hard enough for full success, or feel different enough or strong enough to be a fresh original.
It went straight to video in GB.
Also in the cast are Daniel Roebuck, Denny Dillon, Kid Creole, Reni Santoni, Tom McFadden, Mark Lynn, Joel Murray, Liz Sheridan, Monty Ash, Marsha Dietlein, Danny Mora, Gloria Kisel, and Michael Ciotti.
