Writer/ producer/ director Michael Winner gathers his friends around him for his reasonably entertaining 1998 black comedy film Parting Shots, which proved to be his parting shot as his final movie.
Chris Rea stars as failed photographer Harry Sterndale told that he has only six weeks to live after getting cancer. He snaps, buys a gun and goes vigilante to get his revenge on those who made his life hell.
The risk of casting musician Rea in his only film role largely pays off in a fairly enjoyable turn. In his ninth film with Winner, Oliver Reed stands out as world-weary assassin Jamie Campbell-Stewart.
Also in the all-star cast are Felicity Kendal, John Cleese, Bob Hoskins, Diana Rigg, Ben Kingsley, Joanna Lumley, and Gareth Hunt.
Also appearing are Nicholas Gecks, Patrick Ryecart, Peter Davison,Nicky Henson, Caroline Langrishe, Nicola Bryant and Edward Hardwicke.
The story and screenplay are by Michael Winner, with Nick Mead also credited on screenplay.
