Writer-director James D Parriott’s atmospheric 1998 supernatural crime mystery thriller Rag and Bone is based on an intriguing, unusual story by Anne Rice.
Dean Cain stars as Detective Tony Moran, an ex-priest New Orleans cop dogged by a mysterious figure, the spirit of a dead policeman, who leads him to clues in an unsolved murder case.
Rag and Bone is perhaps not a total success, but, with decent acting and direction, and a decent script too, it is definitely in the interesting category. Dean Cain is excellent and so are Robert Patrick as Sgt Daniel Ryan and Carroll Baker as Sister Marie, Tony’s Aunt.
It was intended as a TV movie pilot, but was originally unreleased to TV and released on video instead. No TV series followed.
Also in the cast are Robert Patrick, Stan Shaw, Kelly Rowan, Carroll Baker, Richard Bradford, Alexondra Lee, Stan Shaw, Drew Snyder, Al Wiggins, Carol Sutton, Deneen Tyler, and Jordan Williams.
It is shot in Louisiana.
Rag and Bone is directed by James D Parriott, runs 95 minutes, is made by James D Parriott Productions and Columbia TriStar Television, is written by James D Parriott, based on story by Anne Rice, is shot by Alan Caso and Carolyn Chen, is produced by Dean Cain, John Perrin Flynn, James D Parriott (executive producer), Robert Lieberman (executive producer) and Anne Rice (executive producer), is scored by Michael Hoenig and is designed by Brian Savegar.
