Ryhs Ifans stars as Pete Thompson, whose father dies and he expects to inherit the family business. But then his crooked accountant Sean Deeny (Joseph Fiennes) plots to sell it off to a Russian mob, headed by Mr Kant (Steven Berkoff). Ifans can’t get his wife Sarah (Sadie Frost) pregnant, but has little trouble with Russian temptress Masha (Tara Fitzgerald).

Edward Thomas’s unpleasant 2000 British gangster movie, with James Hawes’s screenplay based on his own novel, is fast moving, violent and foul mouthed, motoring on the idea that actors swearing and mugging are funny. There is also strong sexual content and drug use.

It is Barry Foster’s last film (as the doctor) before his death in 2002 of a heart attack, aged 70.

Also in the cast are Keith Allen, Dani Behr, Andrew Howard, Nick Moran Olegar Fedroo, Brian Hibbard, Steven Speirs, Joshua Richards, Mariusz Czajka and Robert Brzezinski.
