Talented and likeable but variable comedic actors Jim Belushi [James Belushi] and John Ritter can’t get writer-director Dennis Feldman’s weird 1987 spy action comedy Real Men started, thanks to a lame script and a flat tone.
Belushi plays a womanising, over-confident US spy called Nick Pirandello, who cons innocent, insecure insurance agent simpleton Bob Wilson (Ritter) into doubling up as a deceased agent and joining the trail of tracking down Russian thugs.
It finally takes friendly extra-terrestrials to save the world as we know it.
Real Men is real daft.
Also in the cast are Bill Morey, Iva Anderson, Mark Herrier, Isa Jank, Gail Barle, Matthew Brooks, Maria Dobson, Stephen Corvin, Charles Walker and Don Dolan.
It runs only 85 minutes.
Made by Martin Bregman Productions and released by United Artists (1987) (US), it grossed only $873,903.
